Headlight Restoration in Kapuskasing, Ontario

Yellowed and hazy lenses sanded back and polished clear, so you actually see the road at night.

Yellowed headlights are not just cosmetic. A hazy lens scatters the beam instead of throwing it down the road, which matters on unlit highway at four in the afternoon in December.

The lens is wet sanded in stages to take the oxidised layer off, then machine polished back to clear and sealed against UV so it does not go straight back to yellow. Both headlights are included. Lenses that have cracked or fogged on the inside cannot be fixed this way, and that gets checked before anything starts.

How the work is done

  1. 01

    Mask

Surrounding paint and trim are taped off.

  3. 03

    Sand in stages

Wet sanded through progressively finer grades.

  4. 04

    Polish and seal

Machine polished to clear, then sealed against UV.

Questions about this service

The sealant slows it considerably. Without one they can haze again within a year, which is why it is included.

No. Internal fogging means the housing seal has failed and the unit needs replacing.

Considerably, on most vehicles. It is worth trying restoration first.
