An automatic wash puts the same brushes over your paint that went over the truck in front of you. An exterior detail is done by hand, which takes longer and does not add the fine scratches that dull a finish over a couple of seasons.
The wash is a two bucket method so grit gets rinsed off the mitt instead of dragged back across the paint. Wheels, tires and wheel wells are done first with their own tools. Bugs, tar and road film come off before anything is dried, and the paint gets a sealant afterwards so the next few weeks of salt and slush have something to sit on other than clear coat.

How the work is done
-
01
Wheels first
Wheels, tires and wells are cleaned before the body so nothing splashes back onto clean paint.
-
02
Pre rinse and foam
A pre rinse takes the loose grit off so the wash mitt is not grinding it into the finish.
-
03
Contact wash
Two bucket hand wash, panel by panel, top down.
-
04
Dry and seal
Dried with clean microfibre, then sealed and the trim and tires dressed.
Questions about this service
A few months in normal use. It wears faster through a salt winter than it does over a summer.
Yes. Winter is when it matters most, and the salt removal service goes further underneath.
No. A wash and seal cleans and protects. Scratches and swirl marks need the machine polish service.
