One person, one vehicle at a time
Northern Shine Auto Detailing is run by Malachi Tempeny out of Kapuskasing. It is a small operation on purpose. One vehicle gets worked on at a time, which is slower than a production line and produces a noticeably different result.
Vehicles up here take a particular kind of beating. Salt through the winter, gravel dust through the summer, and long stretches of Highway 11 in between. A detail that works for a car that never leaves pavement does not deal with what is packed into your wheel wells in March.
So the work is aimed at that. Undercarriages and wheel wells get flushed properly rather than rinsed. Carpets get extracted rather than shampooed and left damp. Products are chosen so they do not dry out an older interior or strip what protection the paint still has.
Every service has a starting price published on this site, and you get a firm number for your vehicle before anything begins. If something cannot be fixed, like a scratch that is through the clear coat or a headlight fogged on the inside, you get told that up front rather than after you have paid for it.
How the work is approached
Nothing gets rushed to fit another booking in
The day is planned around the vehicle rather than the other way round. If your truck needs an extra hour because of what is in the carpet, it gets the extra hour.
The quote is the price
The number you get back is the number you pay, unless the vehicle turns out to be materially different from what was described. In that case you get a call before any extra work happens.
Honest about what is possible
Detailing has limits. Deep scratches, cracked lenses and permanent dye stains will not come out, and pretending otherwise wastes your money and everyone's afternoon.
